Joann Kroencke (Brown)

JoAnn Kroencke Brown, 47, of Charlottesville died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 1995, at her home.

Born in Hawaii on Jan. 14, 1948, she was the daughter of Martha G. Clark Kroencke of Leesburg, Fla., and the late Lt. Cmdr. William H. Kroencke.

Mrs. Brown was a senior text operator in the proof department of Michie Company for the past six years.

She graduated from Albemarle High School in 1967.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband of 23 years, Thomas E. Brown; one daughter, Tammi L. Brown; one son, Christopher A. Jones; her beloved grandson, Jordan, all of Charlottesville; her brother, Bruce Kroencke of Leesburg, Fla.; and two nieces, Amy and Lisa Kroencke.

In addition to her father, JoAnn was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Kroencke.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Teague chapel, with the Rev. Edwin Leake officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

I struggled through Latin with Miss Houston while Joann helped by adding humor along the way.

Yes, I remember Ms. Houston's Latin class and I remember Joanne and Chris as well. I still use that Latin even through I don't believe I passed Ms. Houston's class. I was not ready for Latin at the time but I got into it later and learned to love it despite Ms. Houston.
